Planning application for Tesla electric car charging points in Longford deemed incomplete

A planning application for 15 electric car charging points in Longford has been deemed incomplete by local authority planners.

Tesla Motors Ireland Ltd made an application to Longford County Council regarding the project at the N4 Axis Centre, Aghadegnan, Longford, Longford, which includes three Superchargins points.

Superchargers, Tesla’s own-brand high-speed charging points, are fast - up to 250kW, capable of adding as much as 275km of range in just 15 minutes – and are considered generally more reliable than other chargers.
The plans before Longford County Council planners are for a proposed development for high-power electric vehicle charging points and associated infrastructure.

This consists of the installation of 12 electric vehicle charging bays with 12 Tesla illuminated charging units and associated signage, as well as the installation of three Tesla supercharger power cabinets and a substation.

The application also includes the associated revisions to existing paved and landscaped areas and the erection of associated EV signage and all associated site development works including lighting, drainage infrastructure and line marking.

Tesla currently has a network of Supercharging locations in Ireland. The application was made on December 6, 2024.

The applicant will now have to update the application.

The public can make submissions to the local authority planning officer on the proposed development up until Saturday, January 18, 2025.
