Longford County Council crews remain busy removing fallen trees and debris and making roads passable in the wake of Storm Éowyn.

The fallen tree incident previously reported at L50173 (Townparks townland) has now been resolved. Current road status: Passable.

N4 Newtownforbes to Clooniher Pavement Resurfacing Scheme

Roadstone Ltd have been appointed on behalf of Longford County Council as the main contractor for the N4 Newtownforbes to Clooniher Pavement Rehabilitation Scheme and wishes to provide advance notice of significant roadworks on the N4 between Newtownforbes and Rooskey. The resurfacing works shall start at Newtownforbes village and continue for approximately 4kms west of Newtownforbes to the Rinn River Bridge.

Works are due to begin on Monday, January 27 and will continue until Friday, April 4. Works take place daily from 8am to 5pm. The works will be carried out under a stop/go traffic management system, in place for the duration of the works. A Special Roadworks Speed limit of 60km/h shall also be in place for the duration of the works.

The scheme will generally involve the following works: 1. Road reconstruction/resurfacing. 2. Road Markings and Studs installation. 3. Ancillary Accommodation Works.

The nature of these works often means some disturbance is unavoidable, but please be assured that every effort will be made to minimise any unnecessary disruption during these works.
