Revealed: Preferred route option for N4 Mullingar to Longford (Roosky) upgrade published

The preferred route option for the N4 Mullingar to Longford (Roosky) upgrade has been announced.

Deputy Micheál Carrigy welcomed the publication of the preferred route option and said it marked a significant step forward in improving this vital transport corridor.

Following the selection of the preferred route, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has now commenced the next phase of planning and design, which will involve:

  • Further development of multi-modal transport solutions, including associated design.
  • Preparation of an Environmental Impact Assessment.
  • Extensive engineering and environmental site surveys to inform the design process.

Throughout Phase 3, the project team will engage directly with landowners, businesses, and residents in the study area to ensure a comprehensive and well-planned transport solution. While the final design will take time to develop, all feedback will be carefully considered, and amendments may be made where feasible before finalizing the route.

Deputy Carrigy emphasised the importance of this project in delivering improved safety, connectivity, and accessibility for communities along the N4 corridor.

He assured that he will continue to work with stakeholders and advocate for funding to advance this project as efficiently as possible.

“This is a critical investment in our infrastructure, and I encourage all those impacted to engage with the project team throughout this phase,” he said.
