There was much anxiety and excitement as Longford’s 669 Leaving Cert and 61 Leaving Cert Applied students received their much anticipated results last Friday morning.

Meán Scoil Mhuire Longford principal Siobhán Cullen congratulated the Class of 2025 on ‘an exceptionally strong set of results’.

Ms Cullen outlined that results in subjects such as Gaeilge, English and Geography were very impressive, as were results in subjects such as Higher Level Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Music.

She added, “In Higher Level Maths, just over 44% of students obtained a H3 or above with almost 30% of students achieving a H2 or above. In the area of Chemistry, an incredible 30% of students achieved a H1 at Higher Level, with a fantastic 66% of Higher Level Music students achieving a H2 or above.

“This year at Meán Scoil Mhuire, 55% of students sitting the Leaving Cert scored over 400 CAO points, with just over 27% of students scoring over 500 CAO points and a strong cohort breaching the 600 mark.”

Ms Cullen said the Senior Leadership Team at Meán Scoil Mhuire would like to thank the dedicated staff as they continue to support the girls to realise their full potential, and she thanked parents and guardians for their continued support. “Whatever the next steps may be, whether it’s university, an apprenticeship, entering the workforce, travelling, or taking some time to figure things out – this cohort of students can move forward with confidence, as they have already achieved something remarkable.”

Lanesboro Community College Principal Hazel Hannon extended heartiest congratulations to the Leaving Cert class of 2025 on their terrific set of results.

She wished them well as they embark on university and college life, apprenticeships and the world of work. She went on to applaud the hard work and support provided by all the dedicated teaching staff, SNA team and ancillary staff.

Ms Hannon also acknowledged the great support received from LWETB, Board of Management and the Parents Council. Well done to all concerned.

Ballymahon Vocational School Principal Mick O’Rourke and Deputy Principal Orla Calvey said the excellent results are a wonderful reflection of the close collaboration of work between all partners within the BVS community, “our wonderful Leaving Certificate students, our hard working teaching team here in our school, our super support structures in Guidance, Home School, School Completion Team and the support of Parents, Guardians and our diligent Special Needs Assistants Team.”

A delighted Mr O’Rourke and Ms Calvey added, “As Principal and Deputy Principal of Ballymahon Vocational School, We wish the class of 2025 every success as they get ready to open new and exciting chapters in their lives. We have great confidence that this group of very impressive young people from Ballymahon Vocational School will go out into the world and make a meaningful impact.
