Longford and the Midlands will be marking and celebrating the Green Ribbon campaign for mental health this month.
The initiative, which is running throughout the month of September, is urging and calling on people to speak up and show support and this year’s theme is 'Step Up to Stamp Out Stigma'.
The campaign is encouraging people to wear a free green ribbon as a symbol of openness and support for mental health conversations.
HSE events are taking place in Longford tomorrow, in Portlaoise on Wednesday for World Suicide Prevention Day and the campaign will conclude at TUS in Athlone on October 1 next.
Patrick Jones, the HSE Suicide Prevention Officer for the Midlands, has stated Green Ribbons are available at local Primary Care Centres or online at www.shine.ie/advocacy/green-ribbon-campaign
