There is a four-week period when a vehicle has been left in a position but the council wants to extend that

Longford County Council discussed abandoned vehicles during their recent September monthly meeting, and how to address them when they are found.
It was explained that there is a seven-paged document on procedures, which will involve a staff member to confirm that the car is abandoned or not, and then remove it from the roadsides.
There is a four-week period when a vehicle has been left in a position, and the council intends on that process being quickened.
The intention is to remove an abandoned vehicle within seven days, rather than the weeks of waiting and processing.
In response to this, councillors praised the possibility of a faster, more efficient addressing of abandoned vehicles.
Cllr Paul Ross (pictured) responded with: “I propose a single paged document.
"This is a very important proposal.”
Following with this, Cllr Mark Casey praised how the motion addresses not just cars, but various types of abandoned vehicles.
“I'm delighted that this covers caravans and mobile homes that have been left in areas,” he replied.
