Antiques from the estate of the late respected Longford collector Michael Murray are set to go under the hammer over the coming weeks.
The special selection forms part of Usher Auctions’ Antique and Collectible Sale, which is being held from Monday, September 29 to Sunday, October 5.
Over 1,300 items are on sale as part of the auction, with Irish silver, richly patterned rugs and elaborate mirrors among the highlights.
Handwoven carpets, ornate chandeliers and a stunning French Art Deco copper are also up for auction.
Outdoor living is well-represented, with a large collection of quality garden furniture, planters, garden statues and traditional wrought iron gates.

The sale features superb Waterford crystal glassware, full dinner and tea sets, and other fine ceramics.
Those with a passion for furniture will be interested by a broad selection of Georgian and Victorian pieces, including a standout Victorian extendable dining table with 12 matching chairs.
Book lovers will enjoy a collection of antiquarian and Irish-interest books, while those with a taste for fine things can explore a range of wines, spirits, and Irish whiskeys, some rare and collectible.
There's also a great mix of quirky and unique items that add real character to any home.
Michael Murray, a native of Newtowncashel, passed away in April of this year. He was a well-known figure and respected collector with a local historical resonance.
A spokesperson for Usher Auctions said that the inclusion of pieces from his estate “brings a personal and local touch to the sale, with items that reflect a lifetime of careful collecting and an appreciation for quality”.
A number of viewing sessions are taking place at The Auctions Rooms, John Street, Kells, Co Meath over the coming weeks.
They are being held as follows: Monday, September 29 from 10am to 5pm; Tuesday, 30th of September from 10am to 5pm; Thursday, October 2 from 10am to 5pm; Friday, October 3 from 10am to 5pm; Saturday, October 4 from 12pm to 5pm and Sunday, October 5 from 2pm to 6pm.
Please note that there will be no viewing session on Wednesday, October 1.
Usher Actions is encouraging people to come along and view the items in person, with the spokesperson adding that “there’s nothing quite like seeing the craftsmanship and detail up close”.
