Trócaire has today announced that Seán Farrell has been appointed as the organisation's new Chief Executive Officer. 
The County Longford native has a career spanning more than 30 years in development including over 20 years with Trócaire, six of those as Director of the International Division. Most recently Seán was the Deputy Head of Mission at the Irish Embassy in Hanoi managing development programmes across Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Throughout his career Seán has spent nearly 15 years living in and working on humanitarian and development programming in Asia and Africa. 
Announcing the appointment, Chair of Trócaire’s Board, Bishop Paul Dempsey, said:
“The Board and I are delighted to announce that Seán will be Trócaire’s new CEO. We are confident that Seán will bring his wealth of experience to guide Trócaire with vision and integrity in the years ahead. His experience in development, spanning more than three decades, including twenty within Trócaire, demonstrates his passion, commitment and dedication to Trócaire’s mission and pursuit for a more just world.” 
Reacting to his appointment, Seán said:
“I am deeply honoured to have been asked to lead Trócaire at this challenging time globally. Having worked for Trócaire in many roles across the world, I am deeply passionate about the organisation’s work in supporting humanitarian and development work that saves, transforms and changes lives. I return to Trócaire very aware of the amazing legacy of the organisation in working for justice for more than 50 years and I look forward to working with the leadership, staff and partners of Trócaire in carrying that mission and vision forward." 
“It is a privilege and a responsibility to have been tasked with taking on this role. I look forward to working with our supporters all across Ireland as well as the partner organisations and communities we serve overseas. I also look forward to working with our various key partners, including the Irish Government, Church organisations and other NGOs.” 
Sean will commence his role as CEO on 3rd November.
