Alan O’Hara passed away from cancer in May 2025. He was an integral part of the Mostrim GAA team, and was affectionately known as ‘Hardchaw’ or ‘Chaw’.
He had many interests. Alan was doing a horticulture course in the Manor in Edgeworthstow and they donated funds to get a specially designed raining top for the minor team which Alan was involved with just weeks before his untimely passing.

The O'Hara family saw the design and wanted to purchase tops for themselves and then it exploded - over 320 jerseys were purchased.
“We are going to cycle to every GAA grounds across country Longford on the bank holiday Monday, October 27,” the GoFundMe page explains.
At the time of going to press, €6,356 was raised, exceeding the initial €4,000 goal, which has since been updated to €7,000.
The GoFundMe is still open for donations, and welcomes anyone to contribute anything that they can towards the good cause.
An update from September 29 said that “Alan's family are just blown away with the kind donations from everyone so far.”
Alan was remembered for his involvement in the GAA community, and his Mostrim teammates are said to be participating in the October cycle.
