Lanesboro Community College 5th year student, Florence Brunt, who has just been announced 1st prize winner of Longford County Library competition 'Colum for Our Time'
Congratulations to Lanesboro Community College 5th year student, Florence Brunt, who has just been announced 1st prize winner of Longford County Library Archives, Arts and Heritage Services competition 'Colum for Our Time'.
The competition was aimed at writers, artists and illustrators in both junior and senior categories.
Florence was named overall winner in the Junior Illustration category for her work illustrating Padraic Colum’s short story “The First Harp”.

Her work will tour Longford libraries over the coming weeks along with the winning work from the Senior Illustration category.
The winning authors and illustrators in both age categories will have their works published in a book which will be launched at the 2026 Granard Booktown Festival.
