As part of the celebrations, the children have created a wonderful film, ‘A Journey Through Our Parish', showcasing the rich history and heritage of their local area.
The project brings the past to life…from druids and ancient stone circles to poets, priests and past pupils who have made their mark.
The school received a grant from Creative Schools, a programme led by the Arts Council in partnership with The Department of Education.
“It’s been amazing to see the children connect so deeply with the history of their parish,” said Irene Brady a teacher involved in the 3project. “They’ve learned that our community’s story is part of who they are, and that’s something worth celebrating.”
Principal Siobhán Smith added, “The children have worked so hard and shown great pride in their school and parish. This event is as much about looking forward as it is about remembering all those who helped build our school community since 1949.”
