Beacon Assets Ltd have been granted an ‘extension of duration of time’ by Longford County Council for the commencement of a proposed residential development consisting of 37 houses in Ballymahon.
The applicants sought an extension for the development, which has an address of Dunaras and Marian Terrace/Marian Villas, under new provisions made to the Planning and Development Act 2025.

The new terms state that where a development has not commenced, planning authorities shall extend the length of time by the additional period they deem necessary to enable completion of the development.

The proposed development is comprised of 9 three-bedroom two-storey detached houses of which there are two different designs; 7 three-bedroom storey-and-a-half detached houses; 2 blocks consisting of 8 two-storey terrace houses in total; 3 four-bedroom two-storey detached houses; 5 three-bedroom single storey houses, and 5 two-bedroom single-storey houses.
A parkland activity and recreational amenity area along the north-western boundary is also proposed, as is the construction of a 2.5 high-capped wall along the boundary that separates the development site and the Longford/Westmeath Farmers Mart.
