Richly deserved: Longford volunteer recognised for 27 years of coaching dedication

At a recent awards ceremony in the Radisson Hotel, Dublin Airport, Newtownforbes man Michael Keenan received the Connacht Regional Volunteer Award in recognition of 27 years of coaching with Mullingar Shooting Stars.

Michael was a founding member of the club in 1997 and has also coached at seven Ireland games at Football and four Ireland games Floorball. He also coached at three World Games.

Michael's son Sean is a Special Olympics athlete who has represented Ireland in football, athletics and basketball. 

Michael was presented with his award by sports and entertainment presenter, Gráinne McElwain.
