The Citizens Information Service (CIS) welcomed Minister for Social Protection Dara Calleary to launch its national strategy 2025 - 2027, ‘Connecting Citizens’. The objective of this first-ever collaborative strategy is to unify the vision, mission, values and priorities across the 8 CIS companies, to achieve the best possible service, resulting in improved outcomes for CIS customers.

Regional manager for North Leinster CIS, Lorraine Walsh said: “Citizens are at the centre of everything we do, and this national Citizens Information Strategy commits to building on that important face-to-face connection with local communities.”

Ms. Walsh explains: “We are a trusted source of Information and advice available from our centres throughout the country, at any of the 90 Citizens Information Centres.

“As digital services expand, we aim to support and empower people with the information they need to access services online, including MyGovID.ie, MyWelfare.ie, Revenue.ie and SUSI.ie.

“Since 2020, over 2.2 million people have contacted Citizens Information for information and support. We want to build on the growing demand for a trusted provider of free, impartial, confidential information, advice and advocacy on a wide range of public services in Ireland.”

Each Citizens Information Regional Company covers a geographical region, facilitating both rural and urban areas, delivering a service through a network of Citizen Information Centres.

North Leinster Citizens Information Service serves the counties of Longford, Louth, Meath, Westmeath and Kildare.

The network of Citizens Information Services is funded and supported by the Citizens Information Board.

More highlights from the new Citizens Information Strategy include:

Strengthen collaboration with other services to ensure people can always reach the support they need, when they need it.

Continue to share with government clients’ real-life experience to help shape and improve public services through our social policy work.

Continue to enhance quality standards across the network so people can expect the same quality service in every Citizens Information Centre across the country.
