In the space of just 70 minutes, Longford emergency services were called to the scenes of two separate road traffic collisions, Gardaí have confirmed.
The first occurred in the area of Coolarty, between Edgeworthstown and Granard just before midday today.
The incident involved two trucks and three cars but fortunately no one sustained serious injuries. As a precaution, however, paramedics brought one man to hospital for further examination.
The second collision, which involved two cars, occurred in Creenagh, near Drumlish, shortly before 1pm.
1 woman involved in this incident was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital, also as a precaution.
The road has now been reopened to motorists.
