The appeal comes as the shop typically receives a surge of toy donations after Christmas

Longford’s Enable Ireland Charity Shop is urging the public to donate preloved or like-new toys to support vital disability services ahead of Christmas.

The Enable Ireland Charity Shop on 1 - 2 Midland Court, Longford is calling on local families to think ahead this festive season by donating preloved toys before Christmas.

Parents, grandparents, and guardians are encouraged to take stock of toys their children no longer play with—or perhaps never did—and, if they’re in good condition, donate them to the Enable Ireland Longford Charity Shop.

The Longford Charity shop will then do its best to sell it and find each forgotten toy a new home in time for Christmas. 100% of profits from each toy sold will raise vital funds to support Enable Ireland’s disability services across Ireland.

The appeal comes as the shop typically receives a surge of toy donations after Christmas, when families clear out old toys to make room for new ones. However, in the weeks before Christmas, many families on tighter budgets visit the shop looking for affordable gifts.

By donating toys early, families can make a real difference—helping others, reducing waste, and giving toys a second life.
Oonagh O’Connor, Head of Commercial at Enable Ireland, said, “Our shops are on a mission to extend the joy of forgotten toys by finding them a new home in time for Christmas. Sorting through your children’s toys before Christmas is a wonderful opportunity to teach them about sustainability, reducing waste, and helping others.

The toys they donate could bring joy to another child’s Christmas—and every sale helps fund Enable Ireland’s vital services.”
All profits from the Longford Charity Shop go directly towards Enable Ireland’s disability services, supporting over 13,000 children and adults nationwide. Items that cannot be sold are responsibly recycled or repurposed through Enable Ireland’s recycling partners, ensuring minimal waste.
