Longford’s first Pop Up Gaeltacht took place recently in Peter Clarke’s, Dublin Street. The night included caint, cultur, ceol agus craic, and drew a considerable crowd.

The event was very enjoyable with feedback being very positive, with many asking if more caint/conversation could be included in the next Pop Up Gaeltacht.

Many people know they have Irish lying within them and welcome the opportunity to revive and hopefully expand their cupla focal.

Also, many commented on the Irish language and culture movement taking place across the country, among both young and old. With President Connolly in the Aras there will be an increased interest in the language.

This Pop Up Gaeltacht initiative was hosted by Longford Town Men’s Shed, and supported by Longford County Council, The Department of Culture and Longford Tourism.
