Preparations are currently underway in the Bridgeways Family Resource Centre for their much anticipated Christmas event on Saturday, December 13.

The event, the proceeds of which will go towards the centre’s therapy funds, has been such an enjoyable occasion that it has gone on to become an annual event for families local to the Ballymahon area.

This year’s event is set to include facepainting, a chocolate fountain, choir performance singing with Dee Dee, and of course, a visit from Santa Claus himself so any little ones can get those last minute requests in.

There will also be a selfie mirror for those who wish to get a photo with Santa. Attendees can also enjoy festive refreshments. Development and Family Support Worker, Emer Maguire, says the event is one that brings the whole community together.
Speaking about what else people can look forward to on the day, Emer adds, “The big thing is that Music Generation have very kindly provided us with a music tutor since September who has been working very closely with a group of around 10 young children from third to sixth class in local schools and they will be performing on the day.

“They have been practicing since September and every time they rehearse, the place here is absolutely buzzing. They’ll be performing Christmas songs and they’re just so good. There will be lots going on. There will be some crafty things for the children, face painting is a big one, and the selfie mirror with Santa is one people love as it’s such a great memory to have from the day.”

This year’s Christmas event - which will be the first for the centre’s manager Breege Campbell who took up the role earlier this year - will also have a ‘mega raffle’, from which all proceeds will go to Bridgeways and their therapy funds. It is also a ticketed event and strictly time allocated.

The event will run from 2-5pm and the time slots for locals to choose from are 2pm, and 3.30pm. Entry is €5 per person and babies under 12 months go free. To buy tickets, call 090 6432691.
