A man in his 50s died has died following a medical incident at a Longford sports facility yesterday.
Emergency services attended the scene at Coral Leisure in Longford town and the man was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar where he was pronounced dead.
A Garda spokesperson told Longford Live, "Gardaí and emergency services responded to medical incident which occurred at a sports facility in Longford town yesterday, Monday, December 8, 2025 at approximately 10.40am.
"A man, aged in his 50s, was taken to the Regional Hospital Mullingar where he was pronounced deceased.
"The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has been notified."

The spokesperson continued, "The local Coroner has been informed. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation."
A HSA spokesperson stated, "The HSA is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation."
Coral Leisure Longford Sports & Leisure is closed today, Tuesday, December 9.
