Hanna O’Brien, Sandymount, Dublin / Longford

The death occurred peacefully in her 95th year in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Laurel Lodge Nursing Home on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 of Hanna O’Brien, Sandymount, Dublin and formerly of Park Road, Longford. 

Predeceased by her parents Dan and Mary Ann, sisters Kathleen, Bridie, Rosaleen, Guina and Pauline, brothers Thomas, Danny and Seamus, nieces Ann and Miriam and by her nephew Tom. Hanna will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, sisters-in-law Isabel and Anne, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at her niece Christine’s residence (Park Road, Longford - N39 P5V0) on Thursday, December 11 from 6pm until 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Friday, December 12 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 1pm, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HERE

Oliver Whelan, Moigh, Ballymahon, Longford

The death occurred peacefully but suddenly at his residence in the company of his loving family on Sunday, December 7, 2025 of Oliver Whelan, Moigh, Ballymahon, Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Annie and brother Laurence. He will be forever missed by his heartbroken wife Helen, daughter Yvonne and partner Ivan, cherished granddaughter Ella, sisters Veronica (Michael) and Marie (Charlie), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends. Rest In Peace.

Oliver will repose at his residence, N39 TP48, on Wednesday, December 10 from 4pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass is on Thursday, December 11 at 12 noon in St Matthew's Church, Ballymahon, N39 T1D9. Following Mass, Oliver will be laid to rest in Shrule Cemetery.

Chris Hourican (née Gormley), Fostra, Aughnacliffe, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in her 94th year, just four days short of her 95th birthday, on Sunday, December 7, 2025 of Chris Hourican (nee Gormley) Fostra, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford and formerly of Pulladoey, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by her loving husband John, her son Pat, by her great-grandsons, Mathew and Aaron, by her parents, Margaret Ann (nee Gormley) and Patrick Gormley, by her brothers and sisters Mick (Michael, Enaghan), Jim (Jimmy Joe, New Jersey), Pat (Patrick, Harrow, London), Anna (Christchurch, New Zealand), Maggie May (Cunnareen), Eugene (Pulladoey), Tom (Sheffield, UK), Colm (Gartylough) John (Bouladuff, Tipperary), Mel (Dublin & New Zealand), Brendan (Arlington, Boston) and Peadar (Pulladoey).

Sadly missed by her sons and daughters; Mary (Fostra), Margaret (McEntee, Arva), Rosario (Rabbit, Cleenrath), Sean (Arlington, Boston), Kevin (Fostra), Paul (Crott), Christina (Fostra), Suzie (Aughnacliffe), Imelda (Hourican, Arlington, Boston), Colm (New York) and Ciaran (Ballinamuck), sons-in-law Padraig and Patrick, daughters-in-law Bonnie, Lorna, Sheila and Grainne and by her brother Fr.Kevin Gormley (Boonville, Missouri). her adored grandchildren; Danny, Shane, Bryan, Conor, Niamh (McEntee). Reposing at her home in Fostra, Aughnacliffe (N39 K4V2), on Tuesday, December 9 from 3pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. The family will take a break from 6pm until 6.20pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Wednesday, December 10 in St Colmcille’s Church, Aughnacliffe (N39 K603) at 12noon, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. House private outside of reposing times please.

The death occurred on Saturday, December 6, 2025 of Mark Claffey, Cloncullen, Ballymahon, Co Longford and Broadwood, Ballinagore, Co Westmeath. 

Mark will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Zara, his adored children Beau and Amelie, his parents Gerry and Marian, his sisters, Fiona and Lorraine, his brother Stephen, parents-in-law Mickey and Nuala Greally, brother-in-law David, sister-in-law Tone, aunts, uncles, niece Elora, relatives, extended family, great neighbours, and a large circle of friends. May Mark’s gentle soul Rest in Eternal Peace.

Reposing at Nannery’s Chapel of Rest, Riverview, Kilbeggan, N91 HR88, on Tuesday, December 9 from 3.30pm concluding with prayers at 6.30pm. Requiem Mass on Wednesday morning, December 10 at 11am in St Michael's Church, Castletown Geoghegan, N91 XO67. Cremation will take place in Newlands Cross Cemetery and Crematorium, Ballymount Road, Dublin 24, D24 K1CY on Wednesday at 3pm. House private please.

The death occurred suddenly but peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2025 of Benjamin (Benny) Murphy, Firmullagh, Moyne, Co Longford and formerly of Coolikerane, Millstreet, Co Cork. 

Predeceased by his loving wife; Eileen, his parent's; Patrick and Sheila and his sister; Sr Kathleen. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his brothers; Brendan, Pat and Jerry, his sisters; Judy, Peggy, Mary, Nora, Joan and Eileen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. The death occurred peacefully in the wonderful care of the doctors and nurses at Mayo University Hospital on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 of Lena Fahy, Cloonfad, Tibohine and formerly of Strokestown, Co Roscommon (November 12, 1952 - December 9, 2025).

Predeceased by her partner Com Callaghan, parents Des and Sheila, brother Paddy and her sisters Concepta and Audrey. Sadly missed and remembered with love by her sisters Jacqueline, Elaine, Dympna, Patricia and her brothers Adrian, Paul and Declan, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. The death occurred peacefully at the age of 91 years at the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 of Stephen Reilly, Finea Village, Co Westmeath.

Predeceased by his parents Thomas & Brigid, his brothers Sean, Seamus and Tommy. His sisters Maureen, Nellie, Marguerite. Sadly missed by his loving wife Mary for 56 years, son Noel, daughters Stephanie (Sean), Aine (Terry), Carmel (Neil),Mairead (Tomo) and twelve grandchildren, Sisters-in-law,brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, neighbours and a large circle of friends. Rest in peace Stephen.

The death occurred peacefully, after a short illness, with family at the Hermitage Clinic on Saturday, December 6, 2025 of Pat Cooney, Griffith Street, Athlone, Co Westmeath. 

Predeceased by his wife Bridie (nee McMenamin). Deeply regretted by his sons Mark, Michael & Edward; daughter Catherine; grandchildren Eva, Gemma, Carla, Alice and Bridget; son-in-law Kilian Plunkett, daughters-in-law Anne and Stefana, sisters Agnes Cooney and Gemma Rowley; pre-deceased by sisters Mary Cooney and Christine Cooney, and brothers John, Garrett, and Fintan. Greatly missed by his brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, many friends and kind neighbours. May He Rest In Peace. The death occurred peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 8, 2025 of Margaret Hoare (née Kane) 23 Henry Street, Roscommon town and formerly of Strokestown, Co Roscommon and Bruse, Co Cavan. 

Predeceased by her beloved husband Mick, her grandson Kevin, her parents Pat Kane and Molly (Comiskey), and her siblings Michael, Mary, Annie, Pat and Catherine (at infancy) Kane, John, Seamus, Peter and Francie Comiskey. Much-loved mother to Kitty (Manorhamilton), Pat (Castlebar), Michael (Doonbeg), Marie (Mullingar), Paul, Teresa, Declan, Dervilla, Shane, and Sinéad (Roscommon) and mother-in-law to Gerry Hickey, Bernie Morrissey, Kevin Kelly, Úna Ní Chuinn, Anthony McCormack, Anne Hardiman, Noel Beattie, Sharon Mulryan and John Flanagan. She will be forever missed by her beloved husband Sean, sons Conrad and Eamonn, daughter Yvonne, her adored grandchildren Darragh, Eimear, Aisling, Luke, Daniel, Marcus, Laura and Ava, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, brothers John Joe, Michael and Gerard, sister Bernadette, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many good friends. Beloved husband & best friend of Mary. Loving father of Jonathan, Jason & Rebecca (Regan). Father-in-law to Shane & Ruth. Adored Grandad of Cathal, Aiden, Ellie, Sam, Rory, Senan & Molly. The death occurred on Sunday, December 7, 2025 of Ita Devine (née Dunne), Corryard, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim and formerly of Teemore, Co Fermanagh.

Ita has gone home to God from St Patrick's Hospital, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim, to be reunited with her beloved husband Vincent, her beloved daughter Deirdre, her parents JP and Elizabeth Dunne, her sisters Moira Ryan and Margaret Dunne. Ita will be greatly missed by her daughters Sinead Hollyman (Duncan), Drumshanbo, Fiona Devine, London and her son Paul Devine, Bournemouth. Loving grandmother of Molly, Abi and Alexandra Beloved sister of Carmel O'Grady, nieces, nephews and a great circle of loyal neighbours, friends and fellow singers in Drumshanbo choir. The death h occurred peacefully in the care of the staff of Drumderrig nursing home, Boyle and with his son James on Friday, December 5, 2025 of James Douglas Foreman, An Mhainistir, Fenagh, Co. Leitrim and formerly Mount Argus, Dublin.

Predeceased by his wife Mairead and his sister Sally. Deeply regretted by his son James, brother Christopher, sister-in-law Brid, brother- in- law Liam, relatives and friends. Rest in Peace.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family aged 91 years on Saturday, November 22, 2025 of Teresa Morris (née Gilgan), Hornchurch, Essex, UK, formerly of Kilmacowen, Ballisodare, Co. Sligo, and The Square, (The Spar Supermarket), Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim.

Teresa is predeceased by husband John, son John, parents Patrick and Margaret (née Bree), and her brothers & sisters Michael James, Kathleen, Myra, Peggy, Patrick and Mary. Teresa will be deeply missed and remembered always by her loving children Theresa, Patricia, Geraldine, Pauline, Alan & daughter-in-law Nam, Margaret & son-in-law Kevin; her cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. May Teresa’s gentle soul rest in peace.

Teresa’s funeral will take place on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 10:45am in St Alban’s Catholic Church, Langdale Gardens, Hornchurch, RM12 5LA. Interment will follow at 12:15pm at South Essex Cemetery, Ockendon Rd, Upminster, RM14 2UY.
