This has been an ongoing effort since October this year after the N4 Axis defibrillator
After many concerning questions about the condition of the N4 Axis defibrillator back in early October, which was noted by Darren Mulledy, a paramedic and member of Ballymahon Defibrillator Group, positive action has been taken since.
There was a meeting on the evening of Thursday, December 11, to elect a committee to address the issue of the removal of the N4 Axis defibrillator, as it is not currently operational.

At the time when Darren noted the defibrillator, it was not registered on the National Ambulance Service in Tallaght's system upon enquiry.
Passionate about bringing safety resources to Longford’s community, Darren’s role to form this group was to help establish it and advise members in the early stages of its development, rather than join it himself.
The subsequent meetings since October, with Darren present, have all been successful, brought discussion, and have built an official committee.
“Longford Town Defibrillator Group has now taken ownership of this (N4 Axis) defibrillator, and the one at Mollaghan’s Furniture Shop.
“It will take funds to buy a heated cabinet for the Axis Centre, batteries and pads for both defibrillators.
“We hope to have an account open in the coming days, so if any businesses or individuals would like to make a donation to their new defibrillator group, it would be most appreciated,” explained Darren.
The group now has a Facebook page, which encourages people to like and follow, and it has been promised that an Instagram page will be made very soon. Updates and meetings will be announced there.
Other roles like vice chairperson are to be filled in the next meeting, which is due to be scheduled.

As to who has been showing great support for this new cause, Darren named the following:
“Longford Vintage Club has been a huge supporter of our group, allowing us to use their premises for meetings, and selecting Longford Town Defibrillator Group as one of the groups to benefit from their charity Christmas lights run on Sunday, December, 21.”
