Gardaí issue description of man involved in 'suspicious approach' of young girl in Midlands
Gardai have issued a description of a man involved in a ‘suspicious approach’ of a young child in the Midlands in broad daylight earlier this week.
It’s understood a man approached a young girl, thought to be 10 years old, near the Main Street in Portarlington at around 2.30pm on Tuesday, December 16. The man spoke to the girl who fled the scene.
“We have a report of a suspicious approach. We are investigating,” Laois Gardai confirmed.

The man was described by Gardaí as being of “slim build, 50s, white skin and grey hair” and he was driving a silver car.
Gardaí are continuing to appeal for information in relation to the incident. Anyone with information or anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area to contact Portarlington Garda Station on 057 8623112 or Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 867 4100.
