Longford native brings Jazzercise home after 27 years teaching abroad

Maggie (McWeeney) Lieb will be teaching Jazzercise (international dance fitness classes) in Longford beginning on Tuesday, January 6, 2026

International dance fitness phenomenon, Jazzercise, is coming to Longford this January, led by local instructor Maggie (McWeeney) Lieb, marking only the second Jazzercise location in Ireland.

Maggie’s journey with Jazzercise spans more than three decades. She became a customer in 1993 and qualified as an instructor in 1999. She has spent 27 years teaching Jazzercise across the USA and Japan.

Now returned home, she is delighted to bring her global experience back to her native Longford through Midlands Jazzercise.

Jazzercise offers a fun, effective total-body workout combining dance cardio with strength training, inspired by styles such as hip hop, Pilates, yoga and kickboxing. Classes are designed to be welcoming and accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels.

"I want to transform the way people think about exercise. In our classes, music and movement aren't just for fitness—they are the tools we use to welcome, celebrate, and empower every individual who joins our community," says Maggie.

Beginning on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, classes will run Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm in St John’s Hall, Church Street, Longford, and Saturdays at 10am in Longford’s Temperance Hall.  Contact: midlandsjazzercise@gmail.com.
