Five vehicles torched in series of Longford arson attacks as part of ongoing vicious feud

The arson attacks all happened in residential areas

Gardaí have launched an investigation after five vehicles parked in five different residential areas in Longford town were burnt out as part of a vicious feud in a series of late night arson attacks.

The vehicles were set alight after 5am this morning (Saturday) outside five houses where members of the same family live in Ardnacassa Avenue, Palace Crescent, Ardeevan, Lisbrack Road and Canal Court.

Units of Longford Fire Service and Gardaí responded to the scenes with firefighters quickly putting out the fires.

There were no injuries to any of the residents living in the houses or any neighbours or members of the public.

Gardaí are carrying out door-to-door enquiries today and they are trying to establish if any of the arson attacks were captured on CCTV or dash cam footage.

Officers are following up on a number of lines of enquiry in relation to the incident.

Anyone with any information should contact Longford Garda Station on 043 3350570.
