Harp Media has announced its annual competition for 12-minute short films of 12-page screenplays
Granard's production company, Harp Media, is proud to announce the return of its Student Film and Screenplay Competition for 2026. Collaborating and sponsored by Coimisiún na Meán, the initiative is aimed at promoting filmmaking amongst students in the midlands.
The company will be welcoming submissions from secondary school students in Longford, Westmeath and Cavan.
Co-founder of the company, Patrick “Paddy” McGivney said the following:

"We're delighted to be running the Harp Media short film competition again this year, kindly supported by Coimisiun na Mean. We've been holding the competition for the past six years now and the standard of work is always incredibly high so we're once again very excited to see the entries."
Fellow co-founder, Robert Higgins, added:
"Through running this competition, we've been keen to emphasise the accessibility of film and screenwriting as creative mediums. Through our own work, we have always looked to our surroundings for inspiration and we hope this competition encourages young people in the midlands to do the same."

Those interested should write scripts up to twelve pages long, and films can be up to twelve minutes. The deadline for the Student Film and Screenplay Competition is January 31.
To submit, Harp Media has instructed those to use email or via WeTransfer to info@harpmedia.ie.
There are prizes to be won, from €250 to trophies for the winning script and film.
