The death occurred peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 11, 2026 of Seamus Finnan, Kilnasavogue, Longford town and formerly of Churchlands, Longford. (Former County Councillor).
Predeceased by his loving wife Kathleen, parents Mel and Rose, sisters Rosaleen Dennigan and Patsy McCormack, brother Packie and by his nephew James McCormack. Seamus will be sadly missed and remembered with love by James, Patrick, Margaret, Rosemary, Ann and Catriona Dennigan and by Tomas, Aidan, Enda, Niall and Deirdre McCormack, brothers-in-law, cousins, relatives and friends. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret ‘Gretta’ Duignan-McGuire, Oceanside, NY and formerly Dromod, Co Leitrim/ Mohill, Co Leitrim who departed this life on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 in Oceanside, NY.
She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Nanny, Aunt and Friend. Gretta will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Gretta is survived by her beloved husband Terry Joe of 51 years, celebrated this January 4th, 2026, doting children Jennifer, Allison (Vinny) and Terence (Shawna) and her precious grandchildren Vincent Peter and Finley Grace. Gretta is blessed to be further survived by her loving brothers Charlie (Patsy), Peter (Aideen), Leo (Kay d. 2024 R.I.P.), Tom (Phyllis) and Joe (Mary Geraldine) and adoring sisters Liz (Jim d. 2022 R.I.P.) and twin Marian (Liam). From Terry Joe’s family, Gretta will be missed by siblings, Gerry (Eileen), Margaret (Gaafar d. 2022 R.I.P), Phyllis (Noel) and Lily (Brendan) as well as countless relatives and friends who cherished her warmth, kindness, infallible wit and joy that she brought to all.
Born in Dromod/Mohill, Co Leitrim on May 1, 1954 Gretta spent the earliest years of her life in Ireland until she, Terry Joe and the kids immigrated to New York in 1989 where they spent the last 37 years. Here, she not only found, but also thrived in her passions as a hairdresser, frequently shopping at TJ Maxx, attending comedy clubs, adoring her beloved pets and taking Sunday drives with Terry Joe.
We hold in the close comfort of our hearts that she is welcomed by her cherished parents Moll and Harry, and brother Patrick as she arrives in God's Kingdom (RIP). May her beautiful and hilarious spirit rest in peace as we all remember her lovingly until we meet again.
