The death occurred peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 11, 2026 of Seamus Finnan, Kilnasavogue, Longford town and formerly of Churchlands, Longford. (Former County Councillor).

Predeceased by his loving wife Kathleen, parents Mel and Rose, sisters Rosaleen Dennigan and Patsy McCormack, brother Packie and by his nephew James McCormack. Seamus will be sadly missed and remembered with love by James, Patrick, Margaret, Rosemary, Ann and Catriona Dennigan and by Tomas, Aidan, Enda, Niall and Deirdre McCormack, brothers-in-law, cousins, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Wednesday, January 14 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday, January 15 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HERE. Imelda McLoone (née Kelly), Ballyshannon, Donegal, F94 F6D7 / Ballymahon, Longford

The death occurred surrounded by her loving family at Sligo University Hospital on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 of  Imelda McLoone (nee Kelly), Abbeylane, Ballyshannon, Co Donegal formerly of Ballymahon, Co Longford.

Predeceased by her husband Michael, her parents Michael and Josephine, her sister Maisie and her brothers Hugh, Brendan and Matt. Survived by her children Michael, David, Philip and Caroline, her daughters in-law Elaine, Aoife and Louise and son in-law Noel. Adored by her grandchildren Aaron, Kate, Daniel, Nicole, Emily and Conall. Brother Mike (Washington DC) and in-laws Catherine McLoone, Catherine Kelly, Peter and Liz, Paul and Marie, nieces, nephews, all her extended family and many friends.

Reposing at her residence Abbeylane, Ballyshannon, F94 F6D7 on Thursday, January 15 from 4pm to 8pm and Friday, January 16 from 3pm to 7pm. Removal on Saturday,  January 17 from her residence for 11am Funeral Mass in St Patrick’s Church, Ballyshannon followed by burial afterwards in the Abbey Cemetery. The family are immensely grateful to all who looked after Imelda in recent years and for all their support during the recent bereavement of her husband Michael. The McLoone Family would like to thank you for your support and prayers at this sad time. The house shall be private to family outside of reposing times and on the morning of the funeral. 

Jim Mollaghan, Blarney, Cork / Longford

The death occurred peacefully at the Mercy University Hospital on Monday, January 12, 2026 of Jim Mollaghan Blarney, Cork and late of Soran, Longford. 

Jim, beloved husband of Anne (née Murphy), loving father of Michelle, John and Marie, brother of the late infant Vincent. Sadly missed by his wife and family, sons-in-law Paul and David, daughter-in-law Deirdre, grandchildren Alice, Jenny, Maggie and Lucy, brothers Sean and Tommy, sisters Mary and Peg, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Lying in repose at Crowley’s Funeral Home, Ballincollig (Eircode P31W982) on Wednesday, January 14 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm for visitation. Requiem Mass on Thursday, January 15 at 12 noon at St Senan’s Church, Cloghroe (T23T934) which can be viewed HERECremation will take place privately afterwards. Family flowers only. Tony Donlon, Moydow, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of staff in the Pear Valley Senior Living Facility, Oregon USA in his 97th year on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 of Tony Donlon Oregon, USA and formerly of Meeltenagh, Moydow, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Lena Donlon and by his siblings; Jack, Betty, Tom, Paddy, Mel, Fr James OFM, Sr Winifred R.G.S., Charlie and Teresa, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Much loved and deeply regretted by his nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and extended family. May he rest in peace.

A private funeral service and cremation has taken place in Oregon.

Mai (Mary) Barden (née Norton), Clonsilla, Dublin / Clonterm, Longford

The death occurred suddenly but peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in the excellent care of the staff at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown on Sunday, January 11, 2026 of Mai (Mary) Barden (née Norton) Clonsilla, Dublin and formerly of Clonterm, Co Longford. 

Beloved wife of Ciaran and cherished mother of Marguerite, Jason, Ciara, Michael and Ciaran and a devoted granny to Callie, Katie, Ellie, Megan, Sadhbh, Harry, Aoibheann, Jack and Sarah. Predeceased by her much loved brother John. Sadly missed by her loving husband, sons, daughters, brothers Barry, Teddy and Junior, grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Cunningham’s Funeral Home, Clonsilla on Wednesday evening, January 14 between 5pm and 7pm. Removal on Thursday morning, January 15 to the church of St Philip the Apostle, Mountview arriving for Funeral Mass at 11 am followed by cremation in Newlands Cross Crematorium. Annette McDonald (née Quinn), Knockahaw, Dublin Road, Longford Town, Longford

The death occurred Peacefully surrounded by her family in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Laurel Lodge Nursing Home on Saturday, January 10, 2026 of Annette McDonald (née Quinn), Knockahaw, Dublin Road, Longford Town, Longford. 

Predeceased by her husband Joey and by her brothers Noel, Paschal and Fr Seán. Annette will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, daughters Marie and Anne, son-in-law Kevin, brothers Eamon and Frank, sisters-in-law Patsy and Maureen, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Removal on Wednesday, January 14 to arrive at St Mel’s Cathedral for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery. Mary Kate McGrath (née Corrigan), Parkplace, Colehill, Longford / Newtownforbes, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar on Friday, January 9, 2026 of Mary Kate McGrath (née Corrigan), Parkplace, Colehill, Longford and formerly Barramore, Drumlish and Ballykenny, Newtownforbes. 

Predeceased by her husband John, her twin brother Francis and her parents Frank and Mary. Mary Kate will be sadly missed by her heartbroken family, sons and daughters, Frank, Elizabeth, James and Rita. Her sons-in-law James Irving and Mark O'Reilly, daughter-in-law Amanda (Grehan), her adored grandchildren Mark, Shawn, Dillon and Cooper, her relatives and wonderful friends and neighbours. Reposing in the sacred heart church Carrickedmond on Tuesday, January 13 from 6pm until 8pm followed by prayers. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, January 14 at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations if desired HERE. House private please.

The death occurred peacefully in the care of the nurses and staff of the Northwest Hospice Sligo on Tuesday January 13, 2026 of Josephine Moran (née Tiernan) of Skymartin, Eslin, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim and formerly of Cornagher, Cloone, Co Leitrim.

Pre-deceased by her husband Tommie and her brothers Pat Tiernan, Cornagher, Cloone and Joe Tiernan Streete, Co Westmeath. Deeply missed by her daughters Anne-Marie Moran, Geraldine Lee and Margaret McNabola, her sisters Mary McDonagh (Dromod) and Annie Reilly (Leganomer, Ballinamore), her son-in-laws Stephen Hegarty, Oliver Lee and David McNabola, her grandchildren Matthew, Ronan, Lorrainne, Laura, Clodagh and Fiona, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. The death occurred peacefully at Cavan Hospital, surrounded by her family and friends on Monday, January 12, 2026 of Valerie Christine O'Sullivan, Lakeview, Lock Gowan, Co Cavan and formerly Robertstown, Co Kildare. 

Predeceased by her beloved son Patrick and his father Seamus Wyse. Valerie will be deeply regretted and sadly missed by her heartbroken son Thomas, daughter in law KC, loving granddaughter Bella Rose, brothers Tony, Morgan, Pat, Martin, Barry and Glen, sisters Maura, Ada, Ita and Rosaleen (RIP), brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of all the staff at The Sacred Heart Hospital, Roscommon on Monday, January 12, 2026 of Mary Dockery (nee Shally) Clooneragh, Strokestown, Roscommon and formerly of Tonlagee, Cloverhill, Roscommon.

Beloved wife of the late Paschal and much loved mother of Helen, Stephen, Sharon and Noel. Mary will be sadly missed by her loving family, sons-in-law Paul & John Joe, daughters-in-law Michelle & Suzanne, grandchildren Andrea, Thomas, Seán, Eoghan, Dáire, Ciarán, James & Sophia, brother Pat, nephews Anthony & John, nieces Angela & Patricia, relatives, neighbours and friends. The death occurred suddenly, following a tragic accident, aged 35 years, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 of Sean Keaney, Derrin Lower, Ballinagh, Co Cavan and Hanwell, London, England.  

Loving son of Bridie and the late Charlie, brother of Cathriona (Ciaran), Fiona (Stephen), Breda, Katie, Matt (Sarah), Cathal (Lorraine) and Thomas (Shauna). Sadly missed by his mother, sisters, brothers, sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends. May He Rest In Peace.

The death occurred suddenly but peacefully, in the loving care of her family, aged 42 years on Sunday, January 11, 2026 of Maureen Maguire, Cluain Bhríde, Ballintubber, Co Roscommon and formerly of Corbally, Donamon, Co Roscommon.

Beloved mother to Eva and Jarlath. Deeply regretted by her parents Mary and Pat Maguire, brothers Charles, Gerry, Damien and Aidan, her partner Aidan Scanlon, aunts Anne Conlon, Margaret Higgins, Patricia Noone and Mary Handy (Clara), uncle Oliver Maguire (Lanesboro), sisters-in-law Edel and Nadia, Eva’s father John Murphy, her cousins, nieces and nephews Amelia, Cian, Patrick, Nova and Sophie, her many friends, neighbours and work colleagues in Tesco Roscommon.

Maureen’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all her wonderful relatives, neighbours, friends and work colleagues for the incredible outpouring of kindness and offers of support to them since the news of her unexpected passing broke on Sunday. 

Margaret ‘Gretta’ Duignan-McGuire, Oceanside, NY and formerly, Dromod, Leitrim / Mohill, Leitrim

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret ‘Gretta’ Duignan-McGuire, Oceanside, NY and formerly Dromod, Co Leitrim/ Mohill, Co Leitrim who departed this life on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 in Oceanside, NY. 

She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Nanny, Aunt and Friend. Gretta will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Gretta is survived by her beloved husband Terry Joe of 51 years, celebrated this January 4th, 2026, doting children Jennifer, Allison (Vinny) and Terence (Shawna) and her precious grandchildren Vincent Peter and Finley Grace. Gretta is blessed to be further survived by her loving brothers Charlie (Patsy), Peter (Aideen), Leo (Kay d. 2024 R.I.P.), Tom (Phyllis) and Joe (Mary Geraldine) and adoring sisters Liz (Jim d. 2022 R.I.P.) and twin Marian (Liam). From Terry Joe’s family, Gretta will be missed by siblings, Gerry (Eileen), Margaret (Gaafar d. 2022 R.I.P), Phyllis (Noel) and Lily (Brendan) as well as countless relatives and friends who cherished her warmth, kindness, infallible wit and joy that she brought to all.

Born in Dromod/Mohill, Co Leitrim on May 1, 1954 Gretta spent the earliest years of her life in Ireland until she, Terry Joe and the kids immigrated to New York in 1989 where they spent the last 37 years. Here, she not only found, but also thrived in her passions as a hairdresser, frequently shopping at TJ Maxx, attending comedy clubs, adoring her beloved pets and taking Sunday drives with Terry Joe.

We hold in the close comfort of our hearts that she is welcomed by her cherished parents Moll and Harry, and brother Patrick as she arrives in God's Kingdom (RIP). May her beautiful and hilarious spirit rest in peace as we all remember her lovingly until we meet again. Memorial Service at Tower’s Funeral Home, 2681 Long Beach Road, Oceanside, NY 11572, on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 4pm – 8pm.

Nora Moran (née Taylor), Knockglass, Ballinameen, Boyle, Roscommon

The death occurred peacefully at the Plunkett Nursing Home, Boyle surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 11, 2026 of Nora Moran (nee Taylor) Knockglass, Ballinameen, Boyle, Roscommon. 

Predeceased by her parents Ellen and Thomas, brothers Michael, Jimmy, Thomas, Noel, sisters baby Rita, Sadie (USA), Mary and Helen. Beloved wife of Tom and adored mother of Christina Mc Nama (Leitrim village) and Helen Cryan (Ballinameen).

She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her heartbroken family, grandchildren Senan, Noah, Alex, son in laws Michael and Padraic, brother George (Ballinagare) sister Kathleen (Manchester) nieces, nephews, wonderful neighbours and many friends. May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

Joan Nea, Castlepollard, Westmeath

The death occurred at home, surrounded by her loving and heartbroken family after battling a long illness on Thursday, December 11, 2025 of Joan Nea, Basildon, Essex, England and formerly of Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, aged 82.

Predeceased by her husband Martin. Sadly missed by her loving children Pauline, Stephen and Tina, her adored grandchildren Nichola, Melissa, Martha, Siobhan and Kieran, great-grandchildren Leonyedus, Eoin, Patrick and Ahreay, daughter-in-law Lorraine, son-in-law Paul, Nichola's partner Tony, Melissa's partner Leon, Martha's husband Noel; brother David and his family in Australia; and a wide circle of friends.
