A new 10-week introductory course in Philosophy and Meditation is set to begin in Longford this January, offering participants a chance to cultivate greater calm, clarity and perspective in everyday life.
Hosted by the School of Philosophy & Economic Science, the course will start on Thursday, January 15, at 7:30pm, and will take place at the Family Centre, Longford. The programme is open to all, with no prior experience in philosophy or meditation required.
The course combines practical philosophy with meditation, introducing participants to simple ideas and practices designed to steady the mind, reduce stress and encourage clearer thinking. Over the ten weeks, attendees will explore how philosophical insights can be applied directly to daily life, alongside meditation techniques known to support improved sleep, mood and overall wellbeing.
A student from a previous course described the experience as positive and enriching, saying: “I loved the people, the discussions, the different perspectives.”
The organisers describe the programme as a gentle and accessible introduction, particularly suited to those seeking more balance, ease and awareness amid the demands of modern life.
