The recent death has occurred peacefully in the compassionate and skilled care of the staff of Laurel Lodge Nursing Home in her 101st year on Thursday, February 19, 2026 of Kathleen Jones (nee Boyle), Dring, Co Longford. 

Pre-deceased by her beloved husband David, parents Patrick and Katie, sister Bridget Mary, brothers John, Packie Joe, Peter and Terry. Kathleen will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, Marie, David and Rena, sons-in-law Peter McGivney and Jack Flood, daughter-in-law Roisin, brother James and sister-in-law Eileen, grandchildren James (Sinead), David (Ashling), Elaine, David, Evelyne, Lorraine, Sarah, Denise, Karen and Jack, great grand-daughter Róadh, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Saturday, February 21 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Sunday, February 22 in St Joseph’s Church, Purth at 1pm. Interment afterwards in Mullinalaghta cemetery. Phyllis Lynch (née O’Brien), Mullinderg, Emyvale, Monaghan / Granard, Longford / Fivemiletown, Tyrone / Fermanagh

We are saddened to announce the death peacefully at South West Acute Hospital, Enniskillen on Thursday, February 19, 2026 of Philomena (Phyllis) Lynch (née O’Brien) Gillbrooke Nursing Home, Fivemiletown/ Killasonna, Granard, Co Longford and formerly Mullinderg, Emyvale, Co Monaghan.

Loving daughter of the late John & Mary Ellen O’Brien and devoted wife of the late Noel. Predeceased by her sisters Kathleen and Josie. Beloved mother of Noel (Nessa), John (Martina), Kevin (Jo), Christine (Ben) Warnock. Dearly beloved grandmother of Stephen, Thomas, Ciara, Áine, Adam, David, Hannah, Matthew, Lucia, Niamh, Cormac, Sinead (RIP), & Ben and her 3 great grandchildren. Phyllis will be sadly missed by her brother Sean (Kathleen) and her sister Eilis Brennan, extended family and friends. May Phyllis’ gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Phyllis’ remains will repose at McMahon’s Funeral Home, Emyvale, H18 FK80 on Friday, February 20 from 3pm - 8pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday morning, February 21 at 11am at St Patrick’s Church, Corracrin. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery alongside her beloved husband Noel. Una Walshe (née McGrane), Moyne, Durrow, Laois / Moydow, Longford

The death occurred unexpectedly but peacefully, at her home on Monday, February 16, 2026 of Una Walshe (nèe McGrane), Moyne, Durrow, Co. Laois and formerly of Moydow, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Kathleen, her sisters Bernadette and Kathleen and her brother James. Deeply regretted by her loving husband and best friend Gerry, loving mother to Vincent, Derek and Eline, cherished grandmother to Joseph, Jordan, Kieran and Sandra, sadly missed by her daughter-in-law Deirdre, sister Theresa, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Una will repose in Durrow parish centre (R32H327) on Thursday, February 19 from 5pm until 8pm. Cremation will take place on Friday, February 20 at 12.30pm at Newlands cross crematorium. Cremation service can be viewed live HERE.

Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Moydow, County Longford. House strictly private please.

Eamon Hand, Mullinroe, Dring, Longford / Cavan Town, Cavan

The death occurred suddenly, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 of Eamon Hand, Mullinroe, Dring, Co Longford and formerly of Carrickfern, Cavan, Co Cavan. Retired Sergeant of An Garda Síochána. 

Predeceased by his parents Peter and Frances and sister Mary. Deeply regretted by his heartbroken wife Eleanor, daughter Aoife, sons Sean (Ceilí), Fergal (Dori) and Peter, brother John, sisters Bernadette and Ailish, sisters in law, brothers in law, nephews, nieces and a large circle of friends. Reposing on Thursday evening, February 19 in Lakelands Funeral Home, Cavan from 6pm to 8pm. Requiem Mass on Friday, February 20 at 12 noon in St Columba's Church, Mullinalaghta N39EY17 with burial immediately afterwards in the local cemetery.

Hazel Woolterton (née Benton), Páirc na Locha, Tirnawannagh, Bawnboy, Cavan / Ballinamore, Leitrim

The death occurred  peacefully in the loving care of the staff at Lough Erril Nursing Home, Mohill Co. Leitrim on Thursday, February 12, 2026 of Hazel Woolterton (nee Benton), Kent U.K. & Páirc na Locha, Tirnawannagh, Bawnboy, Co Cavan, & Lahard, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by her husband Alan and her sisters Clarice & Heather. Hazel will be sadly missed by her son Marc and her daughter Dina, her sister Susan, brother David, daughter-in-law Natasha, son-in-law Andrew, grandchildren Amelia, Esmée, William & Florence, her brother in law Keith, sister-in-law Beverly, nephews, nieces, extended family & friends. Judy Pearse (née Orr), Delgany Wood, Delgany, Wicklow / Longford / Dublin

The death occurred at St Vincent's Hospital Elm Park on Monday, January 26, 2026 of Judy Pearse (née Orr) late of Delgany Wood, Delgany, Co Wicklow/ Longford/ Dublin. 

Predeceased by her beloved husband David, beautiful granddaughter Leah, dear brother David and her special cousin Sue. She will be sadly missed by her children Fiona, Shauna, Vanessa, Perrin and Garret, her sister Val, her many grandchildren, three sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, her brother-in-law, the extended family, neighbours and friends. A special word of thanks to the amazing staff in the Sugarloaf Care Centre, Kilmacanogue, who cared for Judy with compassion and kindness for the past fourteen months. 

A gathering to remember Judy will take place on Friday, February 20 at the Royal St George Yacht Club, Harbour Road, Dun Laoghaire commencing at 13.30. Friends and colleagues are warmly welcomed to attend and to share stories. Canapes and refreshments will be provided. Family flowers only. The death occurred suddenly in Manchester, England on Monday, February 2, 2026 of Seamus Carthy, Manchester, England / Lisonuffy, Strokestown, Co Roscommon.

Beloved husband of Brenda, much loved father of Kieran, Kathleen & Colleen and adored grandad of Charlie, Finley, Gracie, Aoife & Fiadh. Seamus will be sadly missed by his sorrowing wife and family, sisters Margaret & Mary, brothers Matt, Brian, Gerard & Eamon, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives, neighbours and many friends both in England & Ireland. Maureen O'Neill (née Gorman), Longford town, Co Longford / Sligo

It's with deep sadness that we announce the death of our beloved mother, Maureen O' Neill, (nee Gorman), late of Townspark, Longford town, formerly of Ardagh, and Sligo, suddenly on Saturday, February 7, 2026 in Longford Westmeath General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Pre-deceased by her son James, her husband Shamey, brothers and sisters. Maureen will be very sadly missed by her son Alan, daughters, Carol and Breda. Her son-in-law Phillip, her grandchildren, Trudy, Elaine, Aaron, Shane, and Colin. Her great-grandchildren Alex, Aoibh, Cassie, and Mikie. Also by her loving partner, John, her close friend Trish, and her many relatives and friends in Longford and Sligo.

Maureen was known for her kindness, gentle nature, and deep love for her family. She touched the lives of many with her warm heart and her positive outlook on life. Her memory will live on in all who knew her. 

In honour of Maureen's wishes, a private resomation has already taken place. A celebration of Maureen's life will take place in St Mel's Cathedral on Saturday, February 21 at 11am. No flowers, please.

Patsy Prior, Lecken, Aughawillan, Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully at Cavan General Hospital after a short illness on Thursday, February 19, 2026 of Patsy Prior, Lecken, Aughawillan, Co Leitrim.

Pre-deceased by his wife Eileen, sisters Roseanne (Reilly) & Mary (McBrien), and his brothers Frank, Jack & Peter. Patsy will be sadly missed by his sons Peter & Patrick, daughter Regina, son-in-law Barry, daughter-in-law Karen, sister-in-law Maureen McCabe, brother-in-law Oliver (& Maureen) Kellegher, grandchildren Jack, Matthew, Sophie & Danny, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours & friends. Patsy was the current president of the Aughawillan GAA Club and will be fondly remembered in GAA circles in Co Leitrim and far beyond. Rest in Peace.

Anne McKiernan, Castle Road, Bandon, Cork / Ballinamore, Leitrim

The death occurred suddenly at her home on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 of Anne McKiernan Castle Road, Bandon and late of High Street, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by her parents Claire McKiernan (nee Gaffney) and Oliver McKiernan, brothers Adrian and Tony and sister Deirdre. Sadly missed by her loving niece Vanessa Mulleady (nee Hayden), nephews Cian and Naoise Hayden, brother-in-law Seamus Hayden, sister-in-law Mary McKiernan, grandnieces and grandnephews Chloe, Anna, Michael, Cara, Finn, Dylan, Darcy and Nolan, extended family, neighbours and friends.

The death occurred suddenly at her home on Monday, February 16, 2026 of Eva Toth, Cois Abhainn, Tullylannan, Leitrim Village, Co Leitrim and formerly Hajdúdorog, Hungary.

Predeceased by her father Tóth András. George Bryson, Manchester and Buckley, Wales, and late of Drumbess, Cornafean, Arva, Co Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at Wrexham General Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 of George Samual Bryson, Manchester and Buckley, Wales and late of Drumbess, Cornafean, Arva, Co Cavan. 

Predeceased by his wife Florence and his sister Eva. Sadly missed by his sons John and David, daughters Karen and Sandra, son-in-law Mike, brothers Victor (Doreen), John (Susan), sister Frances (Noel), his adored grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and many friends. The funeral will be held in Manchester at a later date.

"Safe in God's Keeping". He spent many happy visits holidaying with his special niece Lorna and the Hamilton and Good Families in Cornafean, Arva, Co Cavan.
