ALERT | Longford motorists warned of significant road closure that will run for two months

The closure south Longford will go on for two months to facilitate the installation of water mains by Uisce Eireann

Upper Shroove Road closed between Carrowtrasna and the Inishowen Head Road for essential repair work

Longford motorists are been warned of a significant road closure in the south of the county that will go on for two months to facilitate the installation of water mains.

L-1121 & L-1119 Newcastle Road, between the N55 at Toome cross and the R392 at Forgney/Newcastle, Co Longford

The L-1121 & L-1119 Newcastle Road, between the N55 at Toome cross and the R392 at Forgney/Newcastle, Co Longford will be closed (24 hours) from Monday, February 23 to Friday, May 22 to facilitate the installation of water mains by Uisce Eireann. 

The alternative route is;

At N55, Toome Cross, divert via N55 to Ballymahon. Turn left and follow the N55 & R392 to junction of R392 and L-1119 at Forgney / Newcastle.

At R392, Forgney / Newcastle, divert via R392 to Ballymahon. In Ballymahon turn right and follow the N55 to Toome cross.

For the section of road between Toome cross and the Center Parcs entrance there will be no through access, but local access will be maintained.

Traffic management/Signed diversions will be in place for local traffic. Local Access and deliveries will be maintained where possible.

R198 Drumlish Road – At Bo Dearg Housing Estate

The R198 Drumlish Road – At Bo Dearg Housing Estate will continue to be closed between the hours of 8am and 5pm up until Friday, February 27 to facilitate footpath repair works.

Stop/Go or Temporary Traffic Lights may be used during the works.

The road will remain open but traffic delays should be expected.

Pedestrian Management Will also be in Operation.
