Eileen Gillen (née Cosgrove), Corlea, Killoe, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in her 93rd year after a short illness surrounded by her loving family in the care of the staff of Mullingar Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 26, 2026 of Eileen Gillen (nee Cosgrove) Corlea, Killoe, Co Longford and formerly of Bawn. 

Predeceased by her husband Pat, parents Patrick and Ellen, brothers Eugene and Patrick, sisters Margaret and Bridget. Eileen will be sadly missed and forever remembered with love by her family, daughters Bridget and Patricia (Feeney), sons Tom and John (Celbridge), son-in-law Sean, her adored grandsons Graham and his partner Emma, Cormac and his partner Ellen and Killian, her cherished great-granddaughter Maya, sisters-in-law Maureen (England) and Theresa (USA), brother-in-law John (England), nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and dear friends. You were always someone special, Someone kind and true Who will never be forgotten, For we thought the world of you. Rest in Peace Eileen.

Reposed in Connell’s Funeral Home, Church Street, Longford, N39 KN66 on Sunday, March 1 from 2pm concluding with prayers at 4.30pm. Removal from her home on Monday, March  2 to arrive at St Mary’s Church, Ennybegs, N39 AH01 for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Following Mass, Eileen will be laid to rest in the family plot in Aughaboy Cemetery. Funeral Mass can be viewed live HERE. Family home private at all times please.

John Fitzpatrick, Clonrollagh, Longford

The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 1, 2026 of John Fitzpatrick, Clonrollagh, Longford (retired National Teacher).

Pre-deceased by his parents John and Annie, sister Marie and by his brothers Eugene and Alfie. John will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, his beloved wife Bridie, daughters Jacqueline Muldowney (Bornacoola), Joanne Quinn (Drumlish), Yvonne Bennett (Longford), Sinead Stenhouse (Aberdeen) and Marie McDonnell (Strokestown), sons Enda (Dublin) and John (Longford), sister Ann Fadden (Castlebar), brother Pat (Buffalo, New York), daughters-in-law Roisin and Caroline, sons-in-law John, Paddy, Damien, Craig and Michael, his twenty-six adored grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Tuesday, March 3 from 5.30pm concluding with prayers at 8.30pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Wednesday, March 4 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11am, interment afterwards in Newtownforbes cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HEREFamily flowers only please donations if desired to a charity of your choice. House private please.

Christina Miley (née Carthy), Lisdaulan, Rahara, Roscommon / Leitrim Village, Co Leitrim

The death occurred  peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and in the tender care of the incredible staff of Roscommon Hospice on Friday, February 27, 2026 of Christina Miley (née Carthy) Lisdaulan, Rahara, Co Roscommon and formerly of Leitrim Village.

She will be forever missed by her much loved husband Johnny, daughters Niamh (Castlecoote), Eimear (Rahara) and Dervla (Tipperary), sons-in-law David Mullin and Martin Ryan, her adored grandchildren Oisín, Ruairí and Donnacha, sister Marguerite (Dublin), brother David (Leitrim Village), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. She is predeceased by her parents John William and Margaret Carthy. May Christina rest in peace.

Reposed at Smyth’s Funeral Home, Roscommon (F42 NH27) on Sunday evening, March 1 from 4pm until 6pm. Removal from the family home on Monday morning, March 2 at 10.30am arriving at St Patrick’s Church, Knockcroghery (F42 YE68) for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am. Burial afterwards in Gailey Cemetery. House private on Monday morning, March 2 please. Donations if desired to Roscommon Hospice HERE. Elizabeth (Elsie) Owens, 19 French Court, Strokestown, Roscommon

The death occurred peacefully, in the tender care of the nurses and staff of Roscommon Hospice in her 97th year on Thursday, February 26, 2026 of Elizabeth (Elsie) Owens 19 French Court, Strokestown, Co Roscommon.

Deeply regretted by her loving sisters Rosalie, Helene (Scott) & Louise (Curley). Elsie will be sadly missed by her sisters, nephews Gerard & Michael Curley and David Scott, her nieces Edel Neary & Antoinette Whitty, grandnephews, grandnieces and cousins. Elsie will also be sadly missed by her wonderful neighbours and large circle of life long friends. Elsie is predeceased by her parents Charles & Lena, her sister Marion and by her brothers Michael & James. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dílís.

Reposing at McHugh's Funeral Home, Strokestown (F42 RK72) on Sunday, March 1 from 4.30pm until 6pm, followed by removal to The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strokestown. Funeral Mass on Monday, March 2 at 11am. Burial afterwards in Strokestown cemetery. Elsie's Funeral Mass may be viewed online by clicking HERE. Family flowers only please. Seamus Shiels, Glasnevin, Dublin / Loch Gowna, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully in the Mater Hospital surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 22, 2026 of Seamus Shiels, Glasnevin, Dublin and formerly Loch Gowna, Cavan. 

Seamus will be very sadly missed and remembered always by his loving wife Anne, son Patrick, daughter Sinead, grandchildren Laura and James, son-in-law Stephen, sisters Rita and Kathleen, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. May Seamus’ gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Reposing in Massey Bros. Funeral Home, Main Street, Finglas Village, D11ET7P on Saturday, February 28 from 2pm - 4pm. Removal on Monday morning, March 2 to St Canice’s Church, Finglas Village arriving at 9.50am for Requiem Mass at 10am, followed by burial in Glasnevin Cemetery.
