Local gardaí arrested two men earlier today in Longford in connection with a violent double stabbing last month.
The two men were arrested on Monday morning in the county town under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Excluding rest periods, Gardaí can generally detain a suspect for a maximum of 24 hours in accordance with that legislation.

Armed officers rushed to the scene in Longford town at around 9pm on Monday night, February 9 when two men, aged in their 20’s and 30’s, were stabbed in Teffia Park at around 9pm.
Gardaí sealed off an area near Teffia Park estate after the violent incident.
A second scene was subsequently sealed off outside Longford garda station when attackers brought the more seriously injured of the two victims to Battery Road where they dumped him on the path in the area.
Forensic officers examined the Battery Road scene and a man was subsequently rushed to Mullingar’s Midland Regional Hospital.
