Two men who were arrested by Granard gardaí on Friday in connection with four stolen motorbikes have been charged.
The pair were arrested after officers observed the vehicle transporting the motorbikes in North Longford and the vehicle was stopped and searched near the Longford-Leitrim border.
The four motorbikes were subsequently found and seized nearby and the men were arrested and detained for a 24-hour period and interviewed by officers before being charged.
A Garda spokesman said, "Gardaí arrested two men and recovered 4 motorbikes believed to have been stolen following the stop and search of a vehicle in the Drumhass area of Co. Leitrim, [on Friday] March 20th.
"The two men, both aged in their 40s, have been charged and will appear before Carrick On Shannon District court at a later date.
"Investigations are ongoing."
