The attack occurred on the grounds of Longford train station
Longford Gardaí are investigating the shock assault of a 69-year-old local woman which is alleged to have taken place on the grounds of Longford Train Station last Wednesday morning, March 25.
The attack, which occurred at approximately 10.15am, was described as "completely random and unprovoked".
The woman had been speaking with another person while waiting for a bus when she was suddenly set upon by a young woman who proceeded to hit and scratch her until she was pulled away by a male passer-by who witnessed the incident.

The victim received medical treatment after sustaining painful injuries to her eye during the sudden attack.
An investigation into the assault was launched after she presented at Longford Garda Station on Thursday morning to make an official statement.
Gardaí have now appealed for anyone with information to contact them in confidence on 043-3350570
