Twenty-five adults in Longford accessed emergency accommodation during a week last month

A breakdown of the 235 figure in the Midlands showed 167 were adults and 68 were children

Twenty-five adults in Longford accessed emergency accommodation during the week of February 16-to-22 according to new figures.

The figures were contained in the February 2026 Homeless Report published by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

The latest figures revealed there has been a 2% increase in the amount of people in the Midlands accessing emergency accommodation.

A breakdown of the 235 figure in the Midlands showed 167 were adults, 68 were children and 134 were male while 101 were female.

A total of 179 of the total number accessing emergency accommodation were Irish with 30 from the EEA or the UK and 26 listed as non-EEA.

The total number of adults in other counties in the Midlands region was 70 in Westmeath, 77 in Offaly and 63 in Laois.

A total of 49 families in the Midlands region were listed as being in emergency accommodation last month.
