The death occurred peacefully in the tender care of the nurses and staff of Cúram Care, Navan Road, Dublin 7 on Monday, March 30, 2026 of Claire Ruddy, Dublin and formerly of Longford town.  

Pre-deceased by her parents Michael and Catherine, sisters Agnes and Mary and by her brother Frank. Claire will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, devoted sister Sr. Beatrice, niece, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Ann Mulleady (née Donlon), Ardohill, Ballymahon, Co Longford / Ballymore, Co Westmeath

The death occurred peacefully in Mullingar General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 29, 2026 of Ann Mulleady (nee Donlon) Ardohill, Ballymahon, Co Longford and formerly Ballinlig, Ballymore, Co. Westmeath.

Predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Tom; her parents Mary and Christopher Donlon; her sister Mary; and her brothers Jack, Peter, Noel and Joe. Forever missed by her heartbroken family: Her daughter Sandra; sons Thomas, David, Kenneth, Patrick and John; her grandchildren Dylan, Regan, Anna Mary, Molly, Ann and Jack; her sisters Ellen Fox (Moyvoughly) and Bridget Flaherty (Tullamore); her brothers Richard (Cork), Ollie and Tom (Ballymore); daughter-in-law Ann Morency; son-in-law Paul Barry; Sandra’s partner Ray; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Reposing at the family home Ethra (N39 F961) on Tuesday, March 31 from 4pm until 7pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 1 at 12 noon in St Matthew’s Church, Ballymahon, followed by burial in Shrule Cemetery. Ann’s family wish to sincerely thank the staff of Mullingar Regional Hospital — the doctors, nurses, care assistants, A&E staff, and the staff of Medical 2 and Medical 4 — with special thanks to the Palliative Care Team for their compassion and kindness to Ann in her last days.

Sean Guckian, Clooncliva, Mohill, Co Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully at Sligo University Hospital on Sunday, March 29, 2026 of Sean Guckian, Cloonclivia, Mohill, Co. Leitrim.

Predeceased by his parents Bernard and Mary Ann and brother Barney. Sean will be fondly remembered by his sister in law Edel, nephew Kevin, niece Lorraine, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends. May Sean Rest in Peace.

Sean will repose at the Lough Erril Nursing Home Chapel (N41XE39) on Tuesday, March 31 from 6pm until 7pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 1 at 12 noon in St. Joseph’s Church, Cloonturk (N41PF82) followed by burial in Mohill cemetery.

Goretti Connolly (née Gaffney), Corstruce, Ballinagh, Co Cavan

The death has occurred suddenly but peacefully in the loving care of her family and the wonderful staff at Cavan General Hospital on Sunday, March 29, 2026 of Goretti Connolly (nee Gaffney), Corstruce, Ballinagh, Co Cavan. 

Predeceased by her parents Bridget and Tommy Gaffney, sisters Rose and Maura, brother Tommy, nephews Andrew and Thomas and her niece Annemarie. Goretti was dearly loved and will be very sadly missed by her loving husband and best friend Joe, her son Mark (Lorraine), daughters Sharon (Padraig) and Lorraine, her adored grandchildren Aidan, Amy, Nicole, Kayla and Gavin, her brothers, sisters, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, all her extended family and her many friends. May she rest in peace.

William Joseph (Liam) Higgins, Eslin, Mohill, Co Leitrim

The death occurred  peacefully in the care of the QE Hospital, Birmingham, England on Saturday, February 28, 2026 of William Joseph (Liam) Higgins, Birmingham, England / Eslin, Mohill, Co. Leitrim.

Liam will be sadly missed by his loving wife Ann, daughters Sharon and AnnMarie, son-in-law Rob, grandchildren John, Eddie, Luke, Laura and Joe, his sisters Teresa and Josephine (New York), nieces and nephews, extended family, relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Eddie and Rose Higgins of Main Street, Ballinamore and his brothers Eamon and Jim. Rest in Peace.

Kathleen Doyle (née Fitzpatrick), 46 Woodview, Freshford, Kilkenny / Carrigallen, Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the wonderful care of the staff of St Luke's Hospital Kilkenny, in her 93rd year on Monday, March 30, 2026 of Kathleen Doyle (nee Fitzpatrick) 46 Woodview, Freshford, Kilkenny/ Carrigallen, Co Leitrim.

Pre-deceased by her husband James, sister Mary, brothers John Francis and Patrick, and son-in-law Tom Brennan. Beloved mother of Mary, Father Gerald (MHM), John (Jack), Carmel, Michael (Mick), James (Jim), Pat, Catherine and Teresa. Deeply regretted by her brothers Jim and Michael, sisters Margaret, Sr. Regina (Sister of Mercy) and Breege, sister-in-law Eileen Doyle, daughters-in-law Pauline, Liz and Emma, sons-in-law Patsy, Robert and Gavin, adoring grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. The death occurred peacefully, in the wonderful care of the staff of Medical 1, Cavan General Hospital on Monday, March 30, 2026 of Herbert (Herbie) Cosgrove Ballymacgovern, Templeport, Cavan/ Ballinamore, Co Leitrim.

Son of the late Kathleen and Peter. Predeceased by his brothers John, James and Brendan, sister Gertrude, brother-in-law Jim and nephew Peter, sister-in-law Vera and his beloved aunt Maggie. Sadly missed by his family, brothers, Thomas (Marge) and Peter Francis, sisters, Rosemary, Martha (John), Therese (Tim), brother-in-law John and sisters-in-law Breege and Esther, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grand nieces, relatives and friends. Sr Thérése O’Neill, Townparks, Ballyhaise, Co Cavan

The death occurred peacefully in Birmingham Hospital aged 80 on Saturday, March 21, 2026 of Sr Thérése (Peggy) O’Neill, 94 Selly Park Road, Selly Park, Birmingham B297LL and formerly of Townparks, Ballyhaise, Co Cavan.

Predeceased by her parents Michael and Ellen O’Neill, sister Roisin (O’Reilly, Golf Links Road, Cavan), brother Paddy (Dublin), nephews Michael and Brian. Deeply regretted by sisters Eileen (McGovern, Legaginny, Ballinagh), Mary (Rafter, Newtownforbes), brother Michael (Ballyhaise), sisters-in-law Bridie (O’Neill, Ballyhaise), Teresa (O’Neill, Dublin), nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, friends and Sisters of The Charity of St. Paul, Selly Park Birmingham. Paul Hughes, Longford town, Co Longford

The death occurred  peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2026 of Paul Hughes, Toronto, Canada and formerly of Dublin Street and Brickeens, Longford. 

Pre-deceased by his father Mike, mother Mollie and by his brothers-in-law John Mike McCarthy, Frank Seyers and Séamus Tiernan.

Paul will be missed and forever remembered by his wife Peg, sons David, sister Mary Tiernan (Longford), daughter-in-law Becca, nephews Damian, nieces Gillian, Carmel and Laura, grand nephews, grand nieces, cousins and many friends both in Longford and Toronto. May the road rise up to meet you May the wind always be at your back

Noel (Michael) McKiernan, Owen Roe Terrace, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 of Noel (Michael) McKiernan, Rugeley Staffordshire UK and formerly of Owen Roe Terrace, Cavan.

Predeceased by his wife Margaret, infant daughter Marie, parents James and Maisie and brothers Jim (Australia) and Mattie (UK). 

Noel is survived by his sons Martin (Carolyn) and son William, Colin (Michelle) and sons Gary and Terry, all UK.

Sisters Rosaleen Callaghan (Newport, Co. Mayo), Maura Walsh (Granard, Co. Longford), Dympna Molloy, (Swellan Cavan), Una Graham (Glenlara Cavan) and Seán (Drumcrave, Cavan). Sisters-in-law Jean McKiernan (Australia) Jackie Mc Kiernan (Australia) and Mary Mc Kiernan (UK), his adored nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Noel's Requiem Mass will be on Thursday,  April 9 in St. Joseph's Church, Rugeley, Staffordshire WS15 2EH followed by cremation at Stafford Crematorium ST16 3AQ. "Go ndéana Dia trócaire ar a anam".
