Man accused of having knife charged in connection with South Longford aggravated burglary

The man was arrested outside the residence and he was subsequently charged in connection with the incident

A man was arrested in connection with an aggravated burglary incident in the Ballymahon area on Friday night and he was subsequently charged and has appeared in court.

The suspect allegedly entered a home with a knife and one line of enquiry being probed by officers is that he was allegedly seeking to steal a car.

Gardaí were alerted and after they rushed to the scene the man was arrested outside the residence and he was subsequently charged in connection with the incident.

A Garda spokesman said, "This incident is under investigation and individual has been arrested, charged and brought before the courts.

"As the matter is before the courts An Garda Síochána cannot comment further at this time."
