A father accused of beating his 38 year old daughter will return before Longford District Court in December.
Rafal Ludwin (68) of 85 Mostrim Oaks Edgeworhtstown faces two assault charges as well as charges of producing an article in the course of a dispute, damaging property, and threatening to kill at 30 Abhainn Glas, Edgeworthstown, Longford.
The defendant was aided in proceedings by a Polish interpreter. Sergeant Enda Daly said that on April 29, 2022 Longford Garda station received a call from a neighbour who alleged they witnessed a father beating his daughter.
It was alleged the defendant pulled a “clump of hair” from the head of the alleged victim and that in the course of a verbal dispute he threatened her with a kitchen knife. Sgt Daly said the allegations are that a neighbour heard a scream from next door and saw the beating.
Judge John Brennan was told that other allegations include that two females facilitated the escape of the alleged victim through a window. Judge Brennan accepted jurisdiction over the matter.
Solicitor Frank Gearty was granted a disclosure order and the defendant was remanded on continuing bail to December 13 at which point a plea will be entered or a hearing date fixed.
