Longford county councillor hails vacant property grant rollout

Paul Ross

Cathaoirleach of Ballymahon Municipal District Area Cllr Paul Ross

Cllr Paul Ross has welcomed the extension of The Croi Conaithe grant to all vacant houses in Co Longford who meet the criteria.

“This is a very welcome boost and should provide a major opportunity for people to renovate derelict houses within our county,” he said.

“This grant is available to any house which has been vacant for 2 years and built prior to 1993 .

“There are a lot of these type of dwellings in our towns and villages and we have seen a great demand for houses post Covid and this grant of up to €50,000 is available to anyone who wishes to renovate an old property for their principal private residence.

“We have spent the last number of years on the council trying to make our towns and villages a more attractive place to live and now this grant compliments the demand that we now see for people to return back to our beautiful county to live and work”.
