Longford Slashers player Daire O’Brien was brought on in the closing stages of the game for Maynooth University in their 1-7 to 0-9 win over UCD in the Electric Ireland Higher Education Senior Football League Division 1 Final at the DCU grounds on Wednesday night.
In the build up to the Sigerson Cup Championship which starts in January, Maynooth scored the winning point through Dubliner Darragh Warnock (Castleknock) deep into stoppage time.
Killoe Emmet Og player James Moran lined out at full-back for UCD. Both James and Daire are members of the Longford senior football squad under new manager Paddy Christie.
