All eyes will be on St Patrick's Hall in Arva this evening (Wednesday) ahead of a school concert that promises to be one of the most entertaining and eagerly awaited in recent memory.
As has been the case for the past number of years, the pupils of St Mary's National School are putting the finishing touches to a spectacle which has consistently been one of the most popular events on the local calendar.
The children, together with their teachers, have been practicing dilegently behind the scenes over the past number of weeks in what is perennially regarded as the curtain raiser ahead of the Christmas holidays.
In addition to a feast of festive drama and heart-warming theatrics, a raffle will also be held on the night with all donations of spot prizes being greatly appreciated by the school.
The show will commence with a traditional nativity story by Junior and Senior Infants followed by music and Christmas songs by first and second class pupils.
The latter group of children will then join with their third class counterparts to deliver a unique offering of Christmas rraditions around the world as they visit lots of countries.
That will be followed by fourth and fifth class pupils who will present their own original take on the famous "The Latish Toy Show".
One of the final acts of the evening will see fifth and sixth class serve up a piece of drama that looks set to be as intriguing as it is amusing.
The end product will see two jewellery robbers cause mischief and mayhem in St Mary's National School as they decide a school would be the perfect place to hide out with their jewel among the children while they prepare for the School's nativity concert.
A hilarious series of problems and obstacles awati them in "Away with the manger".
The occasion, which kicks off at 7pm, comes hot on the heels of a Christmas carol concert which was held last Saturday evening.
From authetic Christmas songs typified by the likes of Jingle Bells to more contemporary chart hits such as rock band, Keane's hit single 'Somewhere only we Know', audience members were treated to an evening that will certainly live long in the memory.
“A great night of festive entertainment is guaranteed,” said a spokesperson.
“There will be something for everyone.”
Christmas certainly has come early in Arva and with tonight's musical and drama feast ticking every conceivable box, where better place to get into the festive swing of things than St Patrick's Hall.
