As the clock winds down to Christmas, the north Longford village of Ballinalee is more than playing its part in spreading plenty of festive cheer.
Last Sunday week, the annual festive lights were turned on to much fanfare thanks to the hardworking efforts of a small, but dedicated local committee.
Cllr Colin Dalton was quick to sing the praises of locals, adding there was real sense of excitement as the bid day draws ever nearer.
“Community spirit is very much alive and well and it was great to see such a great crowd come out and show their support,” he said.
Cllr Dalton thanked Colin Fox, Brian Gorman and Colin Nugent in particular.
He also reserved a special mention for the opening of a new walkway in Ballinalee earlier this month.
“We even got a visit from Santa on the day in what will be a fanstastic public amenity for all concerned,” added Cllr Dalton.
“There was a lot of work that went into that and it is something that will always be there for locals to use,” he said.
