Don't forget the Longford GOAL Mile is on Christmas Day at 12 noon

Longford GOAL Mile on Christmas Day

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the first GOAL Mile which was run in Dublin.

But Longford has the proud record of being the second oldest GOAL Mile. The start point, the route and the time hasn't changed in almost 35 years.

Christmas day, 12 noon, starting from Connolly Barracks and the route is simply one mile round the streets of Longford. At this stage, it has established itself as much loved Longford tradition.

Old friends gather, family groups and many with overseas extended family all join in the event to spread some joy at Christmas.

This Christmas day, members of the Ukrainian local community will be joining and supporting the Longford GOAL mile.

GOAL is providing much needed aid in Ukraine ( as well as to many of the most vulnerable ,in a variety of countries, in this crazy world).

If you care to do something a little bit special in Longford this Christmas day, it's all very simple.

Just turn up before midday, make whatever donation you want and then walk, jog or run round the streets of the town.

The weather can't be guaranteed but it always goes ahead, irrespective of wind, snow or hail. But what you are guaranteed is good company, a bit of craic and a healthy dose of the feel good feeling on Christmas day.

Looking forward to seeing you at Connolly Barracks, 12 noon, Christmas day.
