Dundalk Golf Notes: Winter League update ahead of imminent return to play

The final eight turkeys of the Christmas season were captured with Patrick Curran (17) producing the best score of the weekend with a tremendous 39pts.

He had nine pars over the 14 holes including four-point pars at the fourth, seventh and 11th where he had two shots and three-point pars at the second, third, fifth, eighth, tenth and 13th. 

That left him four points clear of the field with Laurence Hanratty (22) next closest on 35pts and they finished first and second in Division 4.

Sean Hession and Charlie Monahan were the Division 1 prize-winners with Paddy Duffy and Seamus Bailey taking the honours in Division 2.  Countback was needed to separate Noel McGuinness and Padraig Fallon in Division 3 after both tied on 34pts.

Team Raven retained top position on the Winter League leaderboard, even though they could only manage the fourth highest score of the ten teams.

John McEneaney's team picked up 131 points with Niall Sloane top scoring with 34 points. Michael Hamilton and Sean Hession followed in with 33 points each and Benny O'Shaughnessy brought home 31 points as the final counting score.

That has brought their total to 253 points but their lead has been cut to two points as Team Osprey are now 251 points with Larry Hanratty leading the way with an impressive 35 points.



Team Falcon were the top scorers on Week 2 with 134 points which helped them jump from 9th to 5th place and they are now only 14 points behind the leaders. Padraig Fallon was their top scorer with 35 points.

Team Robin remain at the bottom for the second successive week and they will be looking to bounce back after the Christmas break when the Winter League resumes on the weekend of January 8 and 9.

14 Hole Turkey Singles Stableford - Division 1: Sean Hession (7) 33pts, Charles P Monahan (8) 32pts, Division 2: Patrick Duffy (12) 34pts, Seamus Bailey (9) 33pts.

Division 3: Noel McGuinness (15) 34/23/17pts, Padraig Fallon (13) 34/23/13pts. Division 4: Patrick Curran (17) 39pts, Laurence Hanratty (22) 35pts
