Gardai investigate two burglaries in mid Louth

Gardaí are investigating two burglaries in the mid Louth area.

The first occurred at a house  in Rathnestin, Tallanstown, at approximately 17:45 on the 5th January, while the second occurred at a residence in Riverstown, Ardee, at approximately 16:00 on the same day.

It is understood gardai believe that both incidents may be linked.

In the first incident it is believed the backdoor of the property was forced in and the house was ransacked.

A number of items were taken from the property including a large amount of jewellery.

In the second incident no belongings were reportedly taken from the property.

Gardai are interested in a small black hatchback with distinctive alloy wheels which was captured on CCTV heading in the Ardee direction closely followed by another black vehicle which gardai believe may also be involved.

No arrests have been made at this time and investigations are ongoing.

Anyone with any information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Ardee Garda Station on 041 6871130, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
