Adria Quinn on the podium after taking Gold in the Women's Compound event at the Cuchulainn Archers Winter Series
CúChulainn Archers and DKIT Archery Club started off the New Year on a high note with the staging of the third leg of their Winter Series, which has been taking place in the DKIT Sports Arena.
This event was held on January 7th, with archers coming from all four corners of the island to take part in the competitions.
From Cork to Antrim, from Dublin to Galway and all counties in between, it was an extremely well attended day of action, showcasing how well organised the clubs in Louth really are. Not to mention it led to some exciting battles in the race for the many titles on offer.
Both the CúChulainn and DKIT clubs did well in the competitions with Adria Quinn taking Gold in Women's Compound and Neil Keeble, (Gold), Enda Murray (Silver) and Alex Finn (Bronze) making it a clean sweep of the Men's Barebow.
Anne Marie Murray took Silver in Women's Barebow, with Rose Anne O'Donnell taking Bronze. Brendan Forde came fourth in the Men's Recurve, with Sean Murphy coming in seventh.
Éamonn Rogers came in in sixth place in the Men's Compound, while Fiachra Judge had a decent showing in 11th position. Also worth noting were the performances of the likes of Shay Barry, Kevin Donnelly, and John Keenan in what was a tough class of competition.
The leader board for the Winter Series is now changing from Leg to Leg, with more interest increasing after every competition as we creep closer towards the end of what has become a fascinating event. The next Leg - the second last - will be held on Saturday, January 28th.
