Alan Thompson in action for the Mallon Property team during the Dundalk Snooker League
GM Valeting were the big winners on week 7 of the Dundalk Snooker League as their win, coupled by the other two matches ending in stalemates, meant they extended their advantage at the top of the league to five points.
GM Valeting 3-1 Mallon Property
In the opening match of the night Alan Thompson made it a great start his team as he beat the normally impressive John Dugdale in fine style.
Thompson swept into a 40-point lead, before Dugdale threatened to come back into it. However a missed brown was costly and Thompson capitalised to take the opener.
That was as good as it got for Mallon Property, as the table toppers went on to take the remaining three frames.
First of those winners was 85-year-old Jim Fergus, who beat David Doyle in a close contest, followed by a win for Ken Byrne over Patsy Muckian.
In the final Doubles match ken Byrne and Fintan Dullaghan wrapped up the win for GM Valeting by beating Mallon the pairing of Patsy Muckian and Fra Rogers.
Commercial Club 2-2 Callan's
In the battle of the Aarons, it was a fine display from Aaron Callan who gave the commercial the opening frame in fine style with a victory over Aaron Lee before Paddy Hayes extended their advantage to 2-0 with a fine blue and pink versus Steve McBride.
Joe McEnaney knew he couldn't make any mistakes and he didn't when he brought Callan's back into it with a fine victory over Mickey Ralph.
He continued that form in the doubles match as himself and Steve McBride beat Mickey Ralph and Gary McNally, ensuring Callan's secured a much-needed point.
Charlies Barbers 2-2 The Embassy
Mark Laverty got the Embassy off to a great start beating Dominic O'Connor in a high-quality contest which saw Mark play outstanding stuff in the latter stages to win on the pink.
In the second frame James Coburn, in probably the performance of the night, showed great nerve when he brought Charlie's level on the night with a victory over Tomas Geroc.
The third frame was between team captains Justin McArdle (Charlies) and David J McArdle (Embassy). A nip and tuck beginning saw both players see early chances go a begging, before a fine 35 saw David take control.
Despite a battling effort from Justin, he just couldn't claw himself back into it and David took the 3rd frame, leaving the Embassy 2-1 in front.
In the doubles, Dominic O'Connor and Justin McArdle knew only a win would do and Dominic showed real class in this one, making sure Charlies got the win to making it 2-2 on the night with victory over the Embassy pairing David McArdle and Tomas Geroc.
