Two local landmarks will feature on RTE’s Nationwide tonight.
The programme will feature a segment on the newly refurbished bells at St Joseph’s Redemptorist and a feature on St Brigid’s Shrine in Faughart to celebrate St Brigid’s day.
Presenter Mary Fanning was in the town for the ringing of the bells at St Joseph’s Redemptorist Church.
The bells are part of Dundalk's history and life and have rung out for over a century with many twists and turns on that journey through time.
Nationwide will detail a massive project that was mounted to restore and refurbish the bells and the belfry tower.
This year parishioners celebrated their return and embraced their joyful tones after two years of silence.
Presenter Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh will follow in St Brigid’s footsteps in Louth and also in County Kildare learning of the Saint’s connection to the two counties.
She will also speak to one of the organisers of the St Brigid of Faughart Festival and learn of the significance of this ancient Celtic Goddess and Christian Saint today.
The programme will air on RTE One at 7pm
