New exhibition 'Stagnant' opening in Dundalk's Basement Gallery

Exhibition 'Stagnant' is opening in the Basement Gallery on Wednesday February 14th

An Táin Arts Centre said it is delighted to welcome two emerging artists, Cathy McKeown and Polly Maher, to their Basement Gallery for their collaborative exhibition, Stagnant.

Stagnant is a collection of paintings, drawings, objects and photographs exploring the casual attachment to our way of life on the Border and rural Ireland - one that has remnants of control, stillness, and repetition.

It examines a contemporary narrative of rural life and quiet moments.

Paul Hayes, Director of An Táin Arts Centre said: “What really struck me about this work is that it took contemporary visual art out of the usual visual art spaces and placed it in more rural spaces like work sheds and yards.

“Looking at placing art in unexpected spaces is something that An Táin Arts Centre tries to do regularly through our OFF-SITE programme.”

The opening launch is Wednesday 15th February at 7pm. All are welcome.

Stagnant is available to view in the Basement Gallery of An Táin Arts Centre from 16th February to 11th March.

Opening hours are 10am tp 4pm Tuesday to Saturday. Booking is not required.
