Outcomers, the social and befriending support group for gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender (LGBT) people in the North East is planning changes to its office in Dundalk.

The group has applied to Louth County Council for planning permission for changes to the former Mews Building at the rear of 8 Roden Place in Dundalk. They are seeking to demolish a section of the rear boundary wall to form a temporary site entrance and construct a single storey rear extension to the multifunction room and make alterations to ground and first floor layouts of the building.

The building is a protected structure Ref No. D273 13705016. According to the Louth County Council Record of Protected Structures, the building is an 1851 terraced three-bay three-storey over basement former Georgian town house, with central
entrance, two-storey return.

In its appraisal it says, "Retention of original elements such as the fullwidth balcony and fanlight contribute to its substantial architectural and historic value. Rubble stone outbuildings add further architectural and historical interest."

A decision is due on the application by 11 April, with submissions due by 21 March.
